Jamun tree is an evergreen tree & said to be native of India. Its leaves are silky & green in colour. Jamun bark is of dark green colour & wood is known for its water-resistant quality. Jamun belongs to the Myrtaceae family.

Its life span is more than a hundred years. Jamun tree heights up to 30 feet & diameter ten to 14 inches.

 Jamun tree wood is used to make the boat’s hull due to its water-resistant properties.

Its flowers are small white with an aromatic fragrance. Jamun tree gets ready for fruiting post eight to ten years of planting & starts flowering by Mar-Apr every year. Initially, raw berries are in green colour on ripening it changes its colour to dark purple. Jamun fruit is famous across the world by name java plum & Indian blackberry.

Jamun fruit makes your tongue blue when consumed. Jamun fruit is good for our digestive system & good for diabetic patients. Jamun berries are widely available across India during the monsoon only. Jamun is a seasonal fruit tastes sweet & tangy. 

Jamun fruit is a rich source antioxidant too. It detoxifies our blood which good for the skin.
