English Name- Mango
Botanical Name – Mangifera indica
Mango is the King of fruits & it is a big shady tree. It is the native of India. Mango Tree life is more than one hundred fifty years.
Mango tree heights up to thirty to forty feet & diameter fifteen to eighteen feet. Mango tree shape is like a crown & spreads in an area of eight to twelve meters. Its leaves are of dark green colour.
Leaves are 8 to 10 inches long & 2 inches wide. Mango tree bark is dark green in colour.
Mango tree plantation best seasons is February-March. All types of soils are found suitable for Mango Tree. The seed germinates in 4-5 weeks & plant shall be ready within four-five months.
Mango Tree starts to flower post five years of plantation. Small white flowers are filled with a sweet smell. Flowering start in the months of December-January.
When raw fruit changes its colour from green to yellow it’s the time to harvest. It takes four months to get the fruit mature.
Religious rituals are incomplete without the use of mango tree leaves & wood is used Vedic havans.
