The Sweet Lime (Mosambi) Tree

Botanical Name - Citrus Limetta

The Sweet Lime Tree is a very dense tree with small thorns. It is a small tree & can reach a height of 15- 20 feet & diameter eight to ten inches. Mosambi juice is prescribed to those who are sick & its juice helps in fast recovery. 

Mosambi (Sweet Lime) tastes sweet, but sometimes it tastes sour to sweet.  It looks very much like a lemon with a green colour initially & develops about the size of a tennis ball.  

Sweet Lime Juice (Mosambi) juice is wide consumed due to its high vitamin ‘C’ & gives instant energy, boost immunity & relives from sickness.  

Sweet lime seeds are good to treat infections & improves blood circulation.

Its leaves are dark green in colour 2 inches long & 1 inch wide. Bark colour is light brown with thin green lines. It has pale white flowers & gives a very good smell. The fruit is dark green in colour & becomes yellowish on ripening.

A ripe Mosambi is quite developed & of ball size.  Fruit skin is filled with crucial oils; one scratch at the surface of the peel fills your smelling sensors with an excessive aroma of sweet lime.  

Mosambi is found across India. The fruit is of medium size. Sweet Lime juice is excellent for cooking purposes. Chefs preferred cooking in its juice as sweet lime juice enhances the taste to a different level.  

It is the third-largest fruit produced in India Best time to seed is Jan to Mar & Sep to Oct. 

It starts flowering on completion of two years & harvested from the third year. As many as two yields may be taken in a single year.
