The Indian Pear Tree

Sanskrit Name –  Amratfalam 

Botanical Name – Pyrus

Peartree is a small size tree & it si cultivated in Himachal, Jammu & Kasmir region. Pear is edible fruit & its colour is green-yellow. Its pulp is sweet in taste. It shapes narrow at top & fatty at the bottom.

Peartree goes to a height of sixty to seventy feet & diameter eight to ten inches. Peartree live up to seventy years.

You can plant the pear before the start of the winter, it needs a sunny climate & drained soil type. Pear takes more than four years to flower, & start fruiting. 

Peartree leaves are oval shape (water drop shaped) & glossy dark green in colour. Pear flower’s colour is white & blossom in the season of spring.

Pear fruit is ready by end September & ready for harvest. Peartree needs a lot of irrigation to get mature in time.

Indian pear has two different varieties one is “Nashpati” which is a little hard & it sour to sweet. Another one is “Babugosa”(Indian Pear), it is sweet & soft. Both varieties of pulp are white & juicy. They are rich in fibre.  

Pear has many varieties across the world according to climate. Pears are highly nutritious & many health benefits if consumed regularly, it good for anti-inflammatory properties, good for anticancer effects, good for diabetes, boost cardiac health, good for weight loss.
