Almond Tree
Hindi Name: Badaam
Sanskrit Name: Vatadha
Botanical Name: Prunus Dulcis
Almond tree is a medium-sized tree. In India Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir is the main producer of almond. Almond is very good for health, it is rich in fibre, vitamins, fat, magnesium. Almond has its reach in every part of the world. Almond has good commercial value as well. Almond soaked in the water add value to its nutrients. Almonds are natives of Iran.
Almond tree grows up to a height of thirty feet, & a diameter of one foot. Almond tree is from the family of Rosaceae. The bark colour is grey & has a sharp texture on the surface. Almond tree wood is dark brown in colour & comes under the category of hardwood. Wood has a nice fragrance & used for cooking purposes.
Loamy soils are considered good for the
cultivation of almonds & warm & wet winters are good for growth. Almond
cultivation needs a lot of water for the growth of the tree.
Almond tree leaves are dark green in colour. Leaves are six to eight inches long & four inches wide. Leaves have a leathery look as well touch. Almond leaves are good in treating dysentery. Leaves on almond trees start growing the month of February–March.
Almond flowers are light pink in colour & the tree blossom in the month of spring. The flower is edible & can be consumed. Almond trees look very attractive when loaded with flowers. Flowers have an aromatic smell. Almond plantation is very beneficial for beekeeping. In California, this is being practised on a large scale.
Almond fruit colour is green & its fruit is a drupe. The almond has a hard shell around it & inside the shell is almond. Almond has two types of flavours one is sweet & the other one is bitter. California almond is one of the best varieties in the world.

almond is good for cardiac health & it can control cholesterol, Rich is
vitamin-E, a good source of fibre, full of antioxidants, helps to reduce weight,
good for eyes.
Dry almond warm in nature & if dipped in
water overnight then consumed it gives you nutrient value for the full day. You
can consume six to eight almonds daily. If almonds are consumed regularly it
keeps your skin young & reduces ageing.
Almonds are consumed in many ways in
chocolates, in icecream, desserts, salads & many other food preparations.
